The Gods of Atalantis: Book One

Cover of THE GODS OF ATALANTIS, designed by me. The bottom half shows a girl with long flowing hair sleeping in a fetal position, wrapped up in flowing cloths; she is painted in shades of light to dark blue, and her flowing hair and cloths are reminiscent of ocean waves. At the top, upside down, a boy with curly hair and a tattoo on his arm is also sleeping in a fetal position, wrapped up in cloths; he is painted in golds and reds, like the sun. The two of them mirror each other almost like yin & yang, with the title written between them in shining reddish-gold letters. A reddish-gold border frames the cover, and each corner features a small symbol: a marigold flower, a phoenix, an orange & blue striped fish, and a wolf. Along the left and right sides of the border, pale bluish-white crystals are growing. Along the bottom the author's name EMILY KLOTZ is written in the same reddish-gold letters.

Mireia, a girl from a small fishing village, is torn out of her simple life when she’s chosen as a candidate for the Sea Mother, the goddess who incarnates as a human in each generation. Now she must travel to the Great Citadel, the capital of Atalantis, to test her supposed divinity alongside her counterpart the Sun Father, the boy everyone says she’s destined to marry.

But Mireia knows nothing about this boy, and she’s never liked the idea of “destiny.” Surrounded by scheming politicians and violent religious extremists, Mireia must learn to navigate her new life and find her own destiny. Though if the prophecies of her island’s doom are correct, her destiny may be sooner than she thinks…
